The Schumann Resonance: Earth’s 7.83 Hz Hum, Fact vs. Wellness Myth

The planet really does have an electromagnetic resonance. What it doesn’t have yet is evidence that it’s syncing with your mood.

Lightning strikes around the world excite electromagnetic waves in the cavity between Earth’s surface and the ionosphere. Those waves resonate at a set of low frequencies, the strongest near 7.83 Hz, a phenomenon predicted by physicist Winfried Otto Schumann in 1952.

You’ll see claims online that the resonance is “spiking” and disturbing people’s sleep or emotions. There’s no good evidence for that. The real phenomenon is remarkable enough without embellishment.
